Hola hombre!
On this page you will find some photos from
a trip to South America in June 2005. The main aim of this trip was
the 13th International Conference on Heavy Metals in the Environment,
arranged at Hotel Sofitel, situated at Copacabana Beach, Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil. This is an extremely nice place to arrange an international scientific
conference, of course. Even though the people behind the arrangement
were a bit dazed and confused, to put it mildly. But by
all means: Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Sugar Loaf, Corcovado, who
is complaining? Not to mention all the beautiful ladies in this very
scenic city bathing in sun next to the Atlantic Ocean.
Later we traveled to Peru via Lima to Cuzco, where we visited the nearby Machu Picchu. We also went on a 4-day trek to Choquequirao, a fantastic hike in the Andean mountains. Choquequirao is a recently rediscovered ridge-top Inca site far away in the Andes about two days walk from the remote city of Cachora.
